Résumé anglais Georges Friesdmann and Marie-Thérèse Basse : Problems of Israel through Statistics. Statistics reveal Israel's important problems since its foundation. 1.The exceptionally rapid growth of the population can be explained by massive immigration, a natural rate of increase of the population especially high among immigrants originating from Asian, African and Arabian-minorities. Demographic data show the government's difficulties to merge communities, and also the tensions within the « oriental groups ». 2.The yearly increase of the gross national product was very high, the distribution of income fairly equalitarian. But the rate of increase of public and private consumption upsets the economy and contributes to make it dependent on foreign help. The balance of foreign trade shows a deficit. Economic activity is divided into three sectors: public, private and collective. The state directs investments. 3.As a consequence of the Army's heavy expenses (Arab threat) the national education budget although important is insufficient. The state controls only part of the educational establishments. Fellowships are too few. Youth is exposed to a western inspired mass culture.
