| Résumé | LA REPRESENTATION DU JAPON ET SON EVOLUTION A TRAVERS L'ICONOGRAPHIE DES HEBDOMADAIRES FRANÇAIS (1979-1993) Les illustrations et les titres qui accompagnent articles et dossiers consacrés au Japon dans quelques grands magazines français sont étudiés en diachronie. Après avoir dégagé les principaux champs thématiques, l'analyse met en valeur le durcissement des représentations, corrélatif à l'essor de la puissance financière japonaise. Les symboles nippophobes forment un système plus cohérent que leurs homologues nippophiles, malgré des racines communes. La fin de la période semble cependant amorcer une évolution favorable. | |
| Résumé anglais | REPRESENTATIONS OF JAPAN AND THEIR EVOLUTION IN THE ICONOGRAPHY OF FRENCH MAGAZINES (1979-1993) The illustrations and titles that accompany articles and dossiers devoted to Japan are studied in the order of their appearance. After having set forth the main thematic fields, the analysis demonstrates how the rise of Japanese financial power has been accompanied by a hardening of these representations. The anti-Japanese symbols form a more coherent system than do their pro-Japanese counterparts, despite their common roots. The end of the period seems, however, to mark the beginning of a series of favorable changes. | |
