Aussi bien avant qu'après la guerre de 1967, l'attitude de Sartre et de la plupart des sartriens à l'égard de la question palestinienne et du conflit israélo-arabe n'était pas déterminée par l'analyse objective de la situation au Proche-Orient mais par un élan spontané de solidarité avec l'État juif, considéré comme une compensation de la Shoah. Neither before the 1967 Israeli-Arab War nor after, was Sartre's and most of his supporters' attitude towards the Palestinian question and the war determined by an objective analysis of the situation in the Near East. As a compensation for the Shoah, it was based on a spontaneous surge of solidarity with the Jewish state.
