Le réaménagement de la place du château à Berlin révèle la façon dont certains acteurs politiques et associatifs participent d'une « renationalisation » du discours sur les spécificités urbaines locales. La requalification de cet espace central a supposé l'éviction du palais de la République, édifice emblématique de Berlin-Est érigé en 1976 en lieu et place du château des Hohenzollern et qui fonctionna pendant près de 14 ans jusqu'à ce que les événements de 1989 remettent en question son existence. En 2002, le Bundestag vota sa destruction et la reconstruction de l'ancien château municipal. Nous verrons tout d'abord en quoi la création d'un objet patrimonial par voie de clonage architectural vise à combler l'espace urbain de fictions se rapportant aux identités locales. Nous montrerons ensuite comment certains acteurs contestèrent ces récits sur les identités urbaines. Il s'agira enfin d'explorer les effets exclusifs de la destruction du palais de la République. The urban redevelopment of the Castle Square in Berlin reveals the way in which some politic actors and community leaders participate in a “re nationalisation” of the speech about the local urban specificities. The redevelopment of this central area implied the dismantling of the Palace of the Republic, emblematic building of East Berlin set up in 1976 in place of the castle of Hohenzollern that worked during almost 14 years until the events of 1989 put back into question its existence. In 2002, the Bundestag voted for its destruction and for the reconstruction of the former castle. At first, we shall show that the creation of a patrimonial object by architectural cloning aims at filling the urban space of fictions relating to the local identities. Secondly, we will see how some actors contested these narratives about urban identity. We will finally investigate the exclusive effects of the dismantling of the Palace of the Republic.
