Comment définir la recherche en art ? Quelle est sa part dans le processus créatif d'un artiste ? Comment permettre aux artistes de ménager cette autre temporalité, qui suspend le rythme dominant de la production/diffusion ? Ces questions se passent notamment à l'enseignement supérieur culture, où les écoles d'art ont défriché le terrain depuis une dizaine d'années. D'où l'hypothèse, mise à l'épreuve dans diverses écoles, d'un doctorat création, qui assume pleinement la double exigence de l'art et de l'université. La mission recherche de la direction de la création artistique va relever ces multiples défis que pose la recherche en arts, en proposant différents outils et dispositifs de développement. Research in the arts, the world's oldest profession How should one define research in the arts ? How does it fit into the creative process ? How can artists be helped to handle the temporality of research, which suspends the dominant tempo of production and distribution ? These questions arise especially in higher education in the sphere of culture, where art schools have been breaking new ground for some ten years. Hence the idea, tested now in various schools, of a creative arts doctorate that would cater fully for the demands of both academia and art. The research task force of the creative arts directorate will be addressing the many challenges that arise in research in the arts to put forward different development schemes and tools.
