Ce texte est un dialogue critique avec Robert Boure, auteur de deux articles (Questions de communication, 10, 2006 ; 11, 2007) sur l'histoire française des sciences de l'information et de la communication (sic, 71e section du cnu). Il s'interroge sur l'usage que fait le chercheur de deux notions - « histoires spontanées » et « histoire officielle » - pour leur préférer l'étude des processus d'institutionnalisation entrepris par Robert Boure. Il revient également sur les quatre pistes proposées pour analyser l'institutionnalisation des sic et leurs origines, ci littéraires. Il tente de préciser ce que l'on peut appeler « institutionnalisation cognitive » d'une discipline et imagine les procédures de recherche historique qui pourraient en rendre compte. This dialogue focuses on the two paradigms of « spontaneous histories » and « official history » as they have been developed by Robert Boure from their origins in the French academic circles of the 1970s and then concentrates on the study of their evolution in the discourse of institutionalization which he has initiated. Robert Boure has recently published two papers in Questions de communication (10, 2006 ; 11, 2007) on that subject. This article traces four elements pertinent to the analysis of the institutionalization of Information and Communication Studies as suggested by Robert Boure. It proposes a definition of what could be known as the cognitive institutionalization of Information and Communication Studies. The aim is to articulate the potential of the study of the « cognitive institutionalization » of an academic discipline and of the historic process that it entails.
