Un mode d'engagement singulier au Front national. La trajectoire scolaire effective d'un fils de mineur Ivan Bruneau Cet article cherche à décrypter le processus de politisation frontiste d'un fils de mineur, bachelier - camarade de lycée de l'enquêteur, puis étudiant en histoire, alors « membre » du Renouveau étudiant, au chômage au moment des entretiens. Dans un premier temps, l'auteur distingue son discours militant de celui d'autres jeunes étudiants frontistes et analyse l'impact de sa « familiarisation » à la politique sur son type d'engagement, individuel, à distance du parti. Dans un deuxième temps, à travers l'étude de sa trajectoire scolaire et de ses lectures, il s'agit de comprendre les mécanismes qui ont fait coexister une « réussite » scolaire en milieu populaire, la perspective d'une remarquable ascension sociale et son entrée frontiste en politique, associée à la construction identitaire d'un personnage lycéen extra-ordinaire, Adolf. Enfin, la restitution de l'expérience étudiante de l'enquêté, à la fois scolaire, sociale et politique, permet d'expliquer aussi bien son échec universitaire que son isolement politique, qui le maintient en dehors du groupe des étudiants-militants du Front national. A Pecular Commitment to National Front. The scholar path of a miner's son Ivan Bruneau This contribution seeks to explain the process by which a miner'son gets involved in politics through the Front National. Known by the author at secondary school before he got his A-degree, he went then to University in order to study history and was at the time a « member » of the Renouveau Etudiant (RE). He was unemployed at the time of the interviews. First of all, the author distinguishes his interviewee's political speech from the speech of other young FN students, RE leaders, used as a checking variable. He analyses the impact of his political socialization on the type of his involvement, that is to say, a singular, away-from-the-party involvement. Secondly, through the study of his school years and the books he read, the author aimed at understanding the relationship between a « success » at school within the working class - which means the prospect of a rise in the social scale - and his concern for the Front National, together with the made-up identity of an extraordinary bachelor character named Adolf. Finally, the reconstitution of his academic, social and political experience as a student enables to explain his academic failure and his political loneliness , which keeps him away from the group of the FN militant students.
