Résumé anglais The mouflon sheep population in the Caroux massif in the French department (département) of Hérault has increased substantially since the animal was introduced to the area in 1956. The mouflon is not only a symbol of the area for tou- rists but also a resource for hunting tourism. However, the spontaneous advance of the forest, which local actors are striving to halt, is limiting the expansion of suitable habitats for the animal.
