Who is the Subject of the Green Movement ? This piece argues that the uprising of the Iranian people since June 2009 election, although self-organised and spontaneous, could have only been possible by the reactivation of a historical collective consciousness in dialectical relationship to the singular structure of this socio-political situation. The piece mainly focuses on the historical coming to be of such a structure from three separate, yet interlinked, horizons. Such an analysis prepares the ground for a quick recap of the process of subjectivation part of the Iranian society went through in what can be described as popular politics par excellence.
