L'enjeu de ce texte est de discuter le regard porté par deux économistes américains, Erik Brynjolfsson et Andrew McAfee, sur les transformations numériques qui traversent la société à partir du triptyque machines, plateformes et foules. Ces trois termes et la lecture combinatoire qu'en proposent les auteurs, teintée d'un déterminisme technologique dominant assorti de quelques nuances, interpellent les sciences humaines et sociales en général, et les sciences de l'information et de la communication en particulier, pour le regard critique bienvenu qu'elles apportent sur cette vision du monde présent et à venir. The main goal of this text is to discuss the view of two American economists, Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee, on the digital transformations that are taking place in society, based on the triad of 'machines, platforms and crowds'. The terms of this triad and the combinatorial reading that the authors propose, marked by a dominant technological determinism with a few nuances, particularly challenge the human and social sciences in general, and particularly information and communication sciences, for the welcome critical look that they bring to this vision of the present and future world.
