Changes in Public Sector.
The relationship between administration and politics has passed through several phases since the second world war : the decline of politics in favour of technocracy (in the 1970's) the return of political wilfulness (in the 1980's). Attempts at carrying out political control over the administration being destined to fail, this relationship is currently developing to embrace new forms of interdependence. Consequences of the changes in public sector activity encompass the criteria such as the extent of the politicisation of civil servants and their role in implementing public policy decisions, and enable a map of the political status of the civil service in Europe to be traced.
