Nombreux sont les problèmes auxquels se heurtent les traducteurs lorsqu'ils traduisent des textes militaires du français vers le serbe. Ils sont en premier lieu confrontés au manque de publications spécialisées solides, plus précisément de dictionnaires et de lexiques militaires dans le sens français-serbe et serbe-français. Les principaux problèmes traductologiques dont il est question se posent lorsqu'il faut choisir des équivalents en standard serbe de certaines notions militaires françaises : appellations des structures et des armements militaires, appellations et/ou grades du personnel ou encore termes propres au jargon militaire se manifestant notamment sous la forme de sigles ou d'acronymes. Afin de mettre en lumière non seulement les difficultés mentionnées mais également les cas de traductions inappropriées proposées dans certaines rares publications, nous nous appuierons sur différents textes spécialisés traitant des trois branches des forces armées françaises (armée de terre, marine, armée de l'air). While translating contemporary military texts, we identified many problems which translators face when translating from French to Serbian. The translation of texts in the military field is no routine service and requires the intervention of specialists. First, translators are confronted with the lack of French-Serbian and Serbian-French dictionaries or military lexicons. As a result, major problems arise when choosing Serbian equivalents to specific French military concepts, like the names of military structures or weapon systems, as well as ranks or terms specific to military jargon, often designated through acronyms. This study uses specialized texts in order to highlight not only the above-mentioned difficulties, but also some cases of inaccurate translation. It also aims at proposing various solutions and encourage translators and researchers to address this thorny, but important question, especially in the context of the integration of Serbia into the European Union.
