18 mai 2003 : le péroniste Nestor Kirchner est devenu, de manière inattendue, le premier président argentin à être légitimé par les urnes depuis la très grave crise politique, économique et sociale
qui avait touché le pays deux ans auparavant. Ce texte a pour but de revenir sur la victoire exceptionnelle
de cet outsider, et sur la manière dont il a ensuite réussi à reproduire de la crédibilité politique dans un
temps très court. Pour ce faire, vingt ans après la restauration de la démocratie, il a engagé une réforme
des institutions militaires marquées par l'histoire de la dictature. Dans cette prise de position paradoxale, Nestor Kirchner a réussi à créer autour de lui un réseau d'alliés politiques et de soutiens sociaux

The Restoration of a Political Authority. The “Extraordinary” Path of President Nestor Kirchner
May 18th, 2003: the Peronist Nestor Kirchner unexpectedly became the first Argentinian President to be legitimized by general elections since the very serious political, economic and social
crisis that the country had experienced two years before. This paper aims at looking back on
the exceptional victory of this outsider, as well as on the way he then succeeded in reproducing some political credibility within a very short period of time. To do so, he carried out a
reform of the military institutions inherited from the dictatorship, twenty years after the restoration of democracy. By taking this paradoxical stand, Nestor Kirchner managed to build up a
network of political allies and social supports around him, which proved essential to the
