Résumé anglais France : mishandled growth
After three-year of very weak growth, a modest recovery has occurred in France in 2015 (1.2%). For the first time since 2011, jobs creations have recovered in the private-sector, and business investment increased significatively. In 2016, despite a dynamic first quarter (+ 0.7%) GDP growth would average 1.4% and the unemployment rate would drop by 0.5 point. In 2017, with a growth rate of 1.5%, the French economy would continue to grow at a rate slightly above its potential (1.3%). But two new shocks –Brexit and terrorism attacks– would cut growth by 0.2 percentage points of GDP in 2017. Despite an uncertain international environment, the French economy is gradually recovering, as evidenced by the gradual improvement in the financial situation of economic agents.JEL classification : F01.
