VICTORY IS AS PURE AS A TEAR. POLITICAL APHORISMS IN YUGOSLAVIA, A SUBVERSION OF THE « LANGUE DE BOIS » Yugoslav aphorisms are a form of suicidal humour, which makes no one laugh and constitute an original contre-language which developed on the basis of hackneyed slogans (« langue de bois »).
