Résumé anglais Deng Xiaoping's French years, Geneviève Barman, Nicole Dulioust. Between 1920 and 1925, Deng Xiaoping lived in France for nearly five years. He had corne to study but had to work in a factory. He discovered the Chinese communist movement and little by little became one of its main leaders in France. These French years, heretofore imperfectly known, were thus decisive in the itinerary of this young bourgeois — barely more than a teenager. Through a careful and detailed study, the authors retrace their hazards and main lines within the framework of a more general study of the Chinese worker-student milieu in France.
