L'article s'inscrit dans une interrogation sur le particularisme et l'isolement des élites militaires. L'étude de la politique française de formation des officiers des armes montre qu'une tentation technocratique relie les réflexions qui lui sont consacrées sous la Cinquième République. La formation des élites administratives civiles est une référence majeure pour comprendre celle dispensée, aujourd'hui, aux officiers. Néanmoins, ce modèle ne parvient pas à s'imposer face à une conception privilégiant la figure de l'officier combattant et meneur d'hommes. Une analyse sur une période plus longue révèle alors que cette alternative ne s'explique pas simplement par une conjoncture favorable à la diffusion de l'idéologie technocratique. La politique de formation des officiers emprunte un sentier institutionnel qui croise, de manière récurrente, les chemins suivis par la formation des cadres civils de l'État. The article falls under an interrogation on the particularism and isolation of the military elite. The study of French policy related to officers training shows that a technocratic temptation constitutes the common point of all the reflections on this subject developed during the 5th Republic. The training of the civil administrative elite is a major reference to understand that, today, of the officers. Nevertheless, this model does not manage to be essential toward a design privileging the figure of a fighting officer and born leader. An analysis over one longer period reveals whereas this alternative is not explained simply by an economic situation in favor of the diffusion of technocratic ideas.
