TROIS FÉDÉRATIONS DE PARTIS POLITIQUES : ESQUISSE DE TYPOLOGIE, par
JACQUES LAGROYE et GUY LORD
A partir d'une enquête par questionnaire auprès de 780 adhérents des fédérations girondines du Parti communiste, du Parti socialiste et de l'UDR, on peut reconsidérer le problème de la typologie des partis qui jusqu'alors se satisfaisait d'une variable discriminante. Trois critères ont été successivement pris en compte : le degré et la qualité de la participation (militants ? simples membres) ; les objectifs prioritaires assignés au parti (recherche de nombreux électeurs ou affirmation du programme) ; structure du pouvoir décisionnel et de la démocratie interne. Selon le critère privilégié le clivage se déplace, opposant ici les partis de gauche à l'UDR, là le PC aux deux autres partis. Les trois partis présentent un caractère commun... celui de n'être pas des partis de cadres ou de notables.

Three political party federations: outline of a typology, by Jacques Lagroye and Guy Lord
A survey by questionnaire of 780 members of the Gironde Fédérations of the Communist Party, the Socialist Party and the UDR is used as a means of rethinking the question of the typology of parties which previously had been based on a discriminant variable. Three criteria were taken into consideration successively : the degree and quality of participation (militants ? simple members) ; the party's priority aims (search for new voters or assertion of the programme) ; the structure of the decision-making authority and of internal democracy. Depending on which criterion is given most weight, the split changes position so that in one instance the left is in opposition with the UDR, while in another the Communist Parly is in opposition with the other two. The three parties have one characteristic in common ? they are not parties of executives or notables.
