LA THÉORIE DE LA DÉPENDANCE : BILAN CRITIQUE, par ANTONIO CARLOS PEIXOTO
La théorie de la dépendance est une tentative d'interprétation globale du processus de développement des sociétés latino-américaines, tenant compte des éléments intérieurs et extérieurs de ce processus. Les modalités de l'articulation de ces éléments donnent la spécificité de cette théorie en lui permettant d'aller au-delà des explications traditionnelles du phénomène du sous-développement. Il importe, cependant, de déterminer si les divers contenus du concept de dépendance et les différentes optiques du problème ont été capables de produire un ensemble harmonieux et homogène, et si le champ théorique dont relèvent ces optiques est le même chez tous les théoriciens.

THE THEORY OF DEPENDENCE : A CRITICAL SUMMARY, by ANTONIO CARLOS PEIXOTO
The theory of dependence is an attempt at a global interpretation of the development process in Latin-American societies, taking into account the internal and external elements in this process. The manner in which these elements are linked gives this theory its specificity by enabling it to go beyond the traditional explanations of the phenomenon of under-development. It is important, however, to determine whether the various components of the conception of dependence and the different approaches to the problem have proved able to produce a harmonious and homogeneous whole, and whether the theoretical terrain from which these approaches spring is the same for all theoreticians.
