DISCOURS, PRATIQUES ET IDÉOLOGIE DANS L'ÉVOLUTION DU PARTI SOCIALISTE, par PHILIPPE GARRAUD
L'idéologie socialiste remplit plusieurs fonctions. Elle définit la nouvelle identité du PS, en rapport avec la nouvelle stratégie mise en œuvre, en énonçant les jugements, les thèmes ou les stéréotypes auxquels doivent souscrire les adhérents. Cette identité « positionne » le PS dans le champ politique en le démarquant du système, selon le vocabulaire socialiste, mais aussi du Parti communiste, en insistant sur la spécificité du PS dans l'union de la gauche. Elle occulte la persistance de pratiques traditionnelles telles que l'électoralisme et le clientélisme ou la capacité réduite du PS à mobiliser, à laquelle se substitue un discours mobilisateur. Elle infléchit certaines pratiques en les justifiant, dans la mesure où affirmer la rupture avec le système, par exemple, oblige à mettre en œuvre des pratiques conformes à cette nouvelle orientation : le refus des alliances avec le centre et l'application locale de la stratégie d'union de la gauche. Enfin cette idéologie tend à la mobilisation pour obtenir des soutiens et le discours joue un rôle essentiel, de par sa fonction polémique et didactique, dans l'accomplissement de cette activité.
