Study of an extensive social phenomenon. In France, for instance, at least one million people, occupying 200.000 lodgings, have settled in new urban housing units of various size and structure. The author attempts a description of these new units, especially in their relation to the whole society. They range between two extremes : the unit joined to an older town and refracting a kind of spectral analysis of its social components ; and the unit which shows the structure and the of a modern concern.
