Résumé anglais Jacques Durand : The attraction of round figures and its economical consequences. Statistical laws of the classical type usually apply to phenomena presenting a certain continuity. But in many cases, there appear concentrations on some favoured values, in particular on « round figures » (for instance multiples and sub multipes of 10). The author studis under what conditions this phenomenon occurs and analyses it from two points of view ; sequence of round figures ; frequency with which these various figures occur and which can be understood only if one does not take their numeral value into account.
