Jacques Maitre : The use of logarithms in the sociological study of religion.
On the basis of the numerous data already available the sociologist is now able to undertake inductive statistical research on Catholicism. Using the logarithms of the various variables appears to be a practical method of representing the observed religious phenomena in a simple way. It also helps to understand the « multiplyer aspect » of some processes and even to build up dynamic models. Religious phenomena can thus be considered as obeying the same laws which govern the whole social evolution of society. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
