Anne-Marie Rocheblave : The notion of role : some conceptual problems.
The notion of role owes its richness and ambiguity to the borderline position it occupies between, the fields of psychology and sociology. There exist many definitions of the role : each involves different trends, which the author tries to define. On the basis of some concrete examples the concept of role is studied in more or less extensive meanings, and at several different levels of abstraction. A number of problems are studied, some of which deal with the marginal position of the role, others with its level of reality, and others with the definition of a given social role. The author offers a general definition of the role and refers to the notion of model which enables current meanings to be taken into account. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
