Historiquement l'Occident s'est posé comme concept-monde, mettant en avant l'universalité de ses valeurs, auxquelles il a intégré les droits de l'homme, justifiant ainsi son messianisme. Or, les flux migratoires ont entraîné une diversité ethnique, culturelle et religieuse croissante des sociétés occidentales, à l'origine d'une crise identitaire profonde de l'Occident, incapable de concevoir la construction du vivre ensemble d'États multiculturels. Ce processus de reconstruction identitaire, perçu comme un danger, est porteur de crispation et de violence, le front des intellectuels justifiant la « défense de l'identité nationale », menacée par un ennemi qui n'est plus à sa périphérie mais à l'intérieur des sociétés. The Western World Identity Crisis.
Historically the west settled as a concept-world, advancing the universality of its values, into which it integrated human rights, thus justifying its messianism. Now, the migratory flows led to an ethnic, cultural and religious growing diversity of western societies, at the origin of a deep identity crisis of the west, unable to conceive the construction of coexistence in multicultural states. This process of identity reconstruction, perceived as a danger, is a carrier of tension and violence, the forehead of intellectuals justifying the defence of the national identity, threatened by an enemy who is not any more in its periphery but rather inside the societies. Nevertheless, a new geopolitical and cultural world is emerging that the old name of "The West" will not be able to define any more. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |
