L'article s'intéresse aux représentations de la ville, du patrimoine et de la technique mobilisées par les spectateurs du spectacle « La Cathédrale, de Monet aux pixels ». A partir d'une enquête ethnographique sur le lieu du spectacle, il s'agissait de dépasser la description d'un dispositif artistique pour mieux comprendre ce qui se joue dans la pratique d'un espace ordinaire transformé, le temps de soirées estivales, en scène théâtrale. L'auteur a cherché à comprendre cette composition comme une médiation symbolique qui permet le réinvestissement d'un capital culturel sûr et sa revalorisation par la contribution à la production ou au renforcement de l'identité collective de la ville de Rouen. L'étude de ce qui se joue dans la perception de cette composition a permis d'identifier la naissance d'émotions collectives qui marquent l'appréciation partagée de la perception du spectacle. The article deals with representations of the city, of the patrimony and of the technic called up by the audience of the show “The Cathedral, from Monet to pixels”.
Starting from an ethnographic investigation about the place of the show, the aim of the study is to go beyond the description of an artistic appliance for understanding what is at stake in the practice of an ordinary space transformed, during an evening, into a theatrical scene. The author considered this composition as being a symbolic mediation that allows to reinvest a reliable cultural capital and to increase its value through the contribution to the production or to the reinforcement of the collective identity of the city of Rouen. The study of what is engaged in the perception of this composition allowed to identify the birth of collective feelings that reveal the shared appreciation of the perception of the show.
