Résumé anglais As agents of data processing, archiving and exchange, information professionals are well-placed to observe the changing nature of tracking, security and social networking. Both actor and witness of this Copernican revolution in which users are at the heart of information flow, their statut as mediator has been questioned while at the same time they feel that their skills will be sought to help deal with new problems associated with Life On Line. Our Journal could not avoid the theme of digital identity: it is all over the blogosphere and more and more talked about in the media. But we did not want to simply repeat the obvious along with a toolbox filled with warnings and useful tips. At this stage, we were interested in a more open approach that could be called « digital presence », moving away from the familiar opposition of exposure/protection to go beyond typical concerns about one's individual reputation. Here we discuss images, traces and profiles, not in terms of exposure or monitoring but rather as vectors of knowledge and living together. In other words, between an alarmist viewpoint and a pre-packaged response, we preferred more modestly to share the excitement of this new way of looking at the online environment.
