La situation des personnes qui se prostituent sur la voie publique est complexe. L'attention se concentre généralement sur une image, pour partie construite, des femmes étrangères victimes de la traite, « esclaves de réseaux mafieux ». Si cette image, souvent simplifiée, frappe les esprits, elle cache pour autant la diversité des logiques à l'intérieur desquelles les femmes étrangères cherchent à s'émanciper au sein des territoires prostitutionnels français. Cet article propose de présenter certains éléments de compréhension concernant les processus d'émancipation au cours desquels elles s'extraient de l'exploitation économique, à l'appui d'une analyse géopolitique du phénomène en région parisienne. L'émancipation des personnes est un long processus qui présente une grande diversité de formes et vise à préserver les attentes de leur projet migratoire. Mais, pour y arriver, il faut apprendre comment fonctionne cet espace parisien où différents enjeux de contrôle des territoires prostitutionnels s'affrontent : entre économie criminelle transnationale et politique locale et nationale de lutte contre la traite. Territories and Challenges of Women Trade for Sexual Exploitation : the case of Paris The situation of the people who work in prostitution in the public area is complex. The attention is generally focused on the constructed image of foreign women victim of trafficking, the modern « slaves of criminal networks ». This oversimplified image appeals to emotions but hides the diversity of the traffic dynamics on French territories of prostitution within which women try to emancipate themselves. Through a geopolitical analysis of the phenomenon in the Paris area, this article offers some keys to understand these emancipation processes through which women escape their condition. Emancipation is a long process within a great diversity of situations aiming at saving their migration project. It can be found within the Parisian territory with strong rivalries over the control of prostitution territories, opposing transnational criminal economy networks and local and national forces fighting trafficking.
