Résumé anglais Language Teaching in Host Countries. The issue of second-generation immigrants has become very topical in European educational circles in recent years. Educational institutions in host countries have taken steps to promote language teaching due to changes in economic, social and ethnic profile of immigration to Europe. This article surveys the different types of cultural acclimatization classes operating in Europe and analyzes the means and objectives of teaching for migrants mother tongue and host country language based on research by the Council of Europe and other international bodies. It concludes by underscoring the need for special training to enable teachers to take greater account of second generation immigrant needs.
