The Polish Ombudsman and the Defense of Citizens' Rights.
The creation of the Ombudsman in Poland in 1987 coincided with a sociopolitical and economie crisis and was seen to be a concession in favor of democratic reforms. This institution, which is closer to the Scandinavian model than the French one, has been granted broad powers.
