The type of linkage of Cassange with the Luso-African trade network was, at first, to a large extent, a survival from the former period. However the drastic changes in the dominant economy at the end of the eighteenth century resulted in the rejection of the hinterland societies in the peripheral fringe of the coastalbased capitalistic trade.
