Résumé anglais A.-M PiLLET-ScHWARTZ An Aborted Attempt at Vulgarisation Small-Scale Rubber Cultivation in the Ivory Coast The development of rubber cultivation in the Ivory Coast is essentially based upon large-scale plantations owned and exploited by foreign capitalist firms in association with Eburnean State corporations SOD Nevertheless an attempt was made in 1968-1970 to experiment with smallholdings on the Malayan-Indonesian pattern among Atie and Ebrie planters in the Lagoon region west of Abidjan The author analyses the factors which resulted into an overall failure of the experiment
