Les migrations d'urbains vers le milieu rural connaissent une augmentation croissante depuis plusieurs décennies en France. Elles traduisent de profondes transformations des rapports aux territoires dans les sociétés postindustrielles. Au plan local, elles induisent un processus de recomplexification que l'on déclinera dans trois directions complémentaires : l'identification du processus en lui-même, l'analyse de la place qu'y occupent des systèmes de représentations, l'analyse de son impact sur la gestion de l'espace commun et de la chose publique. L'analyse d'un conflit entre différentes fractions de la population d'un village des Pyrénées-Orientales servira à la fois d'illustration de l'une des facettes de cette recomplexification et de support à une réflexion sur les voies de la reconstruction du politique dans ces espaces sociaux ni vraiment urbains, ni vraiment ruraux, qui expriment sans doute des transformations durables de nos rapports aux territoires. The migration from cities to rural environments by individuals from certain urban groups has been increasing in France for the last thirty years. This represents deep changes taking place in our post-industrial societies. On the local level it produces not only new questions for communities but also reintroduces old questions that had been simplified by the earlier migration from rural to urban environments. After having identified this process, we will analyse two of its components and then their effects: first how, contrary to their initial expectations based on the present situation, the arrival of these new groups with their different priorities alters that situation by introducing unexpected conflicts into the community; second the impact of these conflicts on local politics and on the use of common space. The analysis of a village in the Pyrénées-Orientales in terms of the conflict between different factions and its effect on the population serves both as an illustration of one facet of this process and as the basis for looking at the ways the very approach to problems in these communities, neither really urban nor really rural, is changed as a result.
