L'intelligence économique consiste à rechercher les informations utiles aux acteurs économiques. Alors qu'il était préfet de l'Essonne au début des années 1990 Rémy Pautrat fut confronté à la fermeture d'un grand nombre de PME-PMI. C'est pourquoi il chercha à comprendre par quels moyens anticiper ce désastre économique et comment l'État pouvait aider les entreprises. Dans les années 1990 peu de monde avait compris que certaines informations sont les munitions de la guerre économique. Or, en France, on compte 2,6 millions de PME-PMI qui représentent 10 millions d'emplois. The economic intelligence: a major stake still underestimated
The economic intelligence consists in looking for the information useful for the economic actors. « Préfet » of Essonne département at the beginning of 1990s, Rémy Pautrat was confronted with the closure of many SMEs/SMIs. He tried to understand how to anticipate this economic disaster and how the State could help companies. In the 1990s few people had understood that certain information is the weapon of the economic war. As, in France, 2,6 million SMEs/SMIs represent 10 million jobs, the training to the economic intelligence of the business managers is thus a weapon which can contribute to protect the economic fabric of the country.
