A partir d'une analyse empirique exploratoire en écoles d'ingénieur, l'article explique trois conditions qui permettent à l'innovation de devenir une politique générale à laquelle chacun doit apporter sa contribution opérationnelle : en surmontant l'incertain, en le systématisant et en lui adjoignant des dispositifs symboliques. Mettant en parallèle les avancées scientifiques de la physique, l'auteur montre d'abord que les déterminismes ont laissé place à un relativisme de fond et de forme. Il développe ensuite les brèches engendrées par ces progrès scientifiques, colmatées par des repères cognitifs et des comportements agrégés en système de médiations symboliques : ce constat est d'autant plus intéressant qu'il s'applique à des ingénieurs et spécialistes de sciences exactes. Based on an empirical exploratory study in an engineering school, the article describes three conditions that allow innovation to become a general policy that everyone must contribute to make operational: overcoming uncertainty, systematizing it and adding symbolic devices. After having explained the restructuring and the crises that had modified the school, and then after having pointed scientific advances in physics, the author shows that determinism has given way to a relativism of substance and form. It then develops the feeling of discomfort caused by this destabilization of the organization and scientific progress, and the objectives pursued by a system of symbolic mediations that creates cognitive and behavioral markers in order to normalize the individual relationship: this is all the more interesting that it applies to engineers and specialists in exact sciences.
