	Résumé	Seconde agglomération du Brésil et cœur d'un système métropolitain de 11,5 millions d'habitants, Rio de Janeiro souffre d'une offre de transport public déficiente. Pourtant d'autres métropoles brésiliennes ont su surmonter leurs difficultés et sont même devenues des références internationales à l'instar de Curitiba. Aussi, les raisons doivent être recherchées dans un contexte local, où l'incurie politique a depuis 20 ans tenu en échec toutes les tentatives de réorganisation. Partant de cette situation difficile, le pouvoir municipal entend se saisir de l'opportunité de l'organisation de deux grands événements pour relancer une planification ambitieuse des transports : la Coupe du monde de football (2014) et les Jeux olympiques (2016). 	Résumé anglais	The new clothes of the public transport in Rio de Janeiro Second urban area of Brazil and heart of a metropolitan system of 11,5 million inhabitants, Rio de Janeiro suffers from a deficient offer of public transport. Nevertheless, other Brazilian metropolises know how to overcome their problems and even become international references following the example of Curitiba. The reasons can be found in a local context, where the political carelessness held in check, for 20 years, all the attempts of reorganization. By the diffcult situation, the municipal power intends to seize the opportunity of organizing two major events to boost an ambitious planning of transports: the Football World Cup (2014) and the Olympics (2016).
