L'une des clés de la longévité du système Zanu-PF et du patronage de Mugabe, comme de l'obstination de l'élite du pouvoir à s'y accrocher, réside dans le contrôle de l'État comme source directe et indirecte d'enrichissement, dans la phase dirigiste des années 1980, mais aussi dans le cadre de la libéralisation économique de 1990 à nos jours. Le discours et la pratique de l'africanisation de l'économie ou l'affairisme en RDC sur fond de guerre participent de ce projet d'accumulation de la bourgeoisie d'État émergente. Mugabe and Partners (Pvt.) Ltd. : the Political Conquest of the Economic Arena A key factor in Zanu-PF's domination and Mubage's patronage, as well as in the determination of the power elite to stick to it, lies in the opportunities for self-enrichment, both direct and indirect, offered by the control of the state. This applies equally to the command economy of the 1980s and to the liberalisation from 1990 onward. Ideology and practice of the indigenisation of the economy and the shady business deals in war-torn DRC are part and parcel of the accumulation drive of the emergent state bourgeoisie.
