Résumé anglais This paper deals with training practices in the temporary work sector. It shows that since 1983, in France, the progressive construction of an institutional training frame in the temporary work sector has been negotiated between labour unions and employers' associations. Today, the temporary sector has several tools of training at its disposal. In fact, it has developed two approaches of training; on the one hand by adapting the existing training tools to the specific situation of these workers and, on the other hand by inventing new training tools specifically dedicated to the workers in this business sector. Training given partly in an educational institution and partly in the workplace is much appreciated by temporary employment agencies, especially short training sessions according to the existing data. Long ones are reserved for the most experienced temporary employees, which can be explained by the way the temporary sector works and the different uses it makes of the temporary workforce.
