Cette contribution entend rendre compte de l'engagement des participants dans un dispositif participatif mis en place en Belgique dans le cadre d'un Plan communal de mobilité. Une attention particulière est accordée aux attentes normatives qui imprègnent les modalités d'organisation des réunions, à la façon dont celles-ci évoluent au fil des rencontres et aux équipements qui soutiennent la mémoire des participants. À cet égard, nous indiquerons ce que requiert la cartographie, qui occupe une place centrale dans ce dispositif, et la dynamique de formatage qui en résulte. Sur ce fond, on tentera de rendre compte d'un phénomène régulièrement observé dans ce type de réunions : la progressive désertion des participants. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |

How Cartography Misreads the Inhabitants In this paper, I aim to account for inhabitants' engagement in a participatory device taking place in Belgium, in the context of a municipal mobility plan. Attention is paid to the normative expectations that heavily influence the meetings' organization, to their possible evolution in the course of the events, and to the equipments supporting participants' memory. In this respect, I point out the requirements of cartography, a central tool in this case, and the resulting formatting process.
