La Première Guerre mondiale a eu des conséquences tragiques pour le Moyen-Orient. Elle a conduit au dépècement de l'Empire ottoman et à une balkanisation de la région. La France et la Grande-Bretagne ont semé les graines de conflits futurs en faisant des promesses contradictoires aux notabilités et dirigeants locaux. L'instabilité que l'on observe aujourd'hui au Moyen-Orient puise ses racines dans les découpages qui ont fait suite à la Grande Guerre. Une nouvelle conflagration régionale est à craindre. The First World War and the Balkanization of the Middle-East The First World War had tragic consequences for the Middle-East. It led to the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire and the balkanization of the region. France and Great Britain sowed the seeds of future conflict in making contradictory promises to different communities.
