Troisième religion de Taiwan alors qu'il reste interdit en Chine continentale, le Yiguandao (Voie de l'unité reliant toutes choses), souvent considéré comme un « nouveau mouvement religieux », se développe aujourd'hui rapidement dans toute l'Asie. À partir d'une étude ethnographique conduite à Hong Kong, on s'attache ici à comprendre le rôle que joue l'éducation dans son expansion. On analyse notamment son entreprise de promotion dans la société de textes classiques majoritairement confucéens et l'importance attribuée à la formation des adeptes. Enfin, on montre que la valorisation de l'éducation/transformation (jiaohua) constitue aussi pour le Yiguandao un moyen de se légitimer vis-à-vis des autorités politiques, que ce soit à Taiwan ou, plus récemment, en Chine continentale. Taiwan's third religion but still a forbidden organization in the People's Republic of China, often considered a « New Religious Movement », the Yiguandao (Way of Pervading Unity) is currently expanding quickly all over Asia. Based on fieldwork mainly carried out in Hong Kong in 2010, the article explores the role of education in this expansion process by focusing both on the promotion in society of Confucianism-inspired texts and on the organization of training sessions for the adepts. It also suggests that the emphasis the Yiguandao puts on jiaohua (education/transformation) constitutes a useful legitimization strategy vis-à-vis political authorities, be it in Taiwan or, more recently, in Mainland China.
