Ariane Lantz, The "Pacifists" and War without War
War, whether that of 1939 or that of 1914, does not make one think, but rather provokes a sense of shame about the culture of war and a sense of guilt about the errors of the past. Such reactions tend to obscure a political analysis of war in favor of the moral condemnation of it. consequently, the word "pacifists" becomes an insult since it evokes war and not the extirpation of evil.
