Jürgen Paul, The village in Central Asia during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
In this paper, it is established that village communities existed in Central Asia during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, although their decomposition was then well under way. Village communities are defined by the characteristic feature that their lands could not be sold individually.
