Four distinct steps lead from metropolitan employment structures to social strata ; the relationships are not direct. Therefore changes in the labour market do not affect directly, nor in a linear waythe social structures of households and social division of metropolitan spaces, as demonstrated in the case of Greater Paris overthe most recent intercensal period.
