Dans cet article, l'auteur évoque le cinquantenaire de la revue Communication & langages. Il s'arrête sur la signification de son titre dont les termes sont liés par une esperluette (&) et retrace les raisons qui ont fait que ce numéro anniversaire est dédié à Gérard Blanchard. Homme de métier et théoricien, Gérard Blanchard, qui a œuvré pour la revue pendant plus de vingt-cinq ans, est un des « grands auteurs » des Sciences de l'information et de la communication. Emmanuël Souchier nous invite à le découvrir ou redécouvrir. Puis il revient sur les vertus rituelles d'un numéro anniversaire et souligne l'intérêt d'un retour aux thématiques originelles de Communication & langages (graphisme, typo-graphie…) tout en insistant sur l'exigence théorique et scientifique d'une revue de référence en Sciences humaines et sociales. The author of this article commemorates the fifty years of the journal Communication & langages. He comments the meaning of this title which terms are linked by an ampersand (&) and relates the reasons why this anniversary issue is dedicated to Gérard Blanchard, professional and theorist who worked for the journal for over twenty-five years. Emmanuël Souchier invites us to discover or rediscover one of the great authors in the field of Information and Communication Science. Then, he discusses the ritual virtues of an anniversary issue and highlights the interest of coming back to the original subjects of Communication & langages (graphic design, typography) while emphasizing the demanding theoretical and scientific level for a leading academic journal in social science and humanities. He then concludes on the need for passing on knowledge, know-how and attitude between generations of researchers within the editorial and academic environment of the journal Communication & langages.
