Cet article porte sur les rares tentatives actuelles d'« orientalisation » du fait éducatif qui réintroduisent la dimension spirituelle de l'être humain en se détachant de la tradition occidentale religieuse ou philosophique, pour s'ouvrir aux cultures « autres » : bouddhisme tibétain, philosophie indienne, taoïsme... Nous étudierons au travers des travaux universitaires relativement « marginaux » de René Barbier, de Constantin Fotinas et de Jeanne Mallet, en quoi la référence aux spiritualités, en particulier orientales et extrême-orientales, est un outil de compréhension essentiel du fait éducatif, entendu dans un sens élargi à l'existence entière. L'enjeu n'est rien moins, au fond, que la possibilité d'un réenchantement de l'éducation, par-delà le processus de désenchantement analysé par Max Weber dans nos sociétés modernes sécularisées. This text is willing to provide links between two separated – even opposed- fields: the field of contemporary lay teaching and the field of great spiritual traditions, often ignored in the research for education sciences. Some signs of the times are, indeed, leading us to work for new alliances, and thus, go beyond this ideological rift. By taking the way of spiritualities (particularly eastern and far-eastern ones) the matter in hand is to try to see the questions about education from a different angle and thus thinking pedagogy differently. Our hypothesis is that there is, in this spiritualities which are in the same time dissimilar and coherent, a specific philosophy of education -even though there is no such philosophy yet – that remains to be updated.
