Evaluation Based On Longitudinal Data,

This article concerns the evaluation of certain government employment policies introduced in France during the 1980s to reduce unemployment and improve the employability of young, unskilled workers. The evaluation made here is limited to the impact of such measures on the short-term future of the beneficiaries. The econometric study is based on individual longitudinal data collected by INSEE from 1986 to 1988. It focuses on the effects of the employment devices on the probability of finding a job (again) and the probability of returning to unemployment after a period of employment.
