Résumé anglais The Subversion of French Villages Empirical observation of recent changes in french rural society leads to the analysis of two decisive processes at work in the social dynamics of villages : on the one hand, the renovation of local societies as a by-product of both a new stratification of the peasantry and the establishment of non-agricultural residents ; on the other hand, the development of new social relations within the communities and throughout the network linking them together. The results of this research allow for a critique of the common discourse of neo-ruralist ideology.
