Even though the General Theory devotes few to those questions, for most of the commentators, it breaks the traditionnal conception of the nature and the extent of the public economic intervention. The purpose of this paper is to appraise that position from two points of view. Those of the way in which economists have defined the status of the State in relation to the economic system.
