Résumé anglais Hayek and the french school of "economics of conventions" have diverging positions on social philosophy. Nevertheless, they share similar critics with regard to the neo-classical rational choice theory. They also have in common close hypothesis regarding cognitive processes underlying the economic and social co-ordination. The concept of rule is at the heart of their analysis. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the commonalties, divergences as well as the limits of their respective analysis concerning the rules.
